Accident during unloading: a wall collapsed on the truck, crushing the cabin

It is hard to believe in this tragedy. While the truck was in the warehouse, the entire wall of the building collapsed and that the most solid part crashed into the cabin.

A Volvo FH brought a 40-foot container to a food trader. It happened in Villacidro, in the south of Sardinia. The 35-year-old driver was supposed to reverse the container back to the building and leave the cabin outside. The tractor was thus standing directly on the frame, with a concrete block above it.

According to preliminary findings, when passing through the gate, the container hit the building. It was enough to disturb the structure and a moment later lead to the collapse of the wall. Everything crashed outside, including the tractor cab. The transverse wall reinforcement, which is the heaviest and most solid element, has hit the cab.

To get to the wreckage, it was necessary to use a firefighter's crane. When the firefighters released the driver's body, it was too late for any help. The 35-year-old man from a local area died at the scene.
